A DIAMOND couple from Wellington celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss at a surprise party organised by their daughter.
Haydn and Eileen Ashman, who live at Oaktree Court Care Home in Wellington, were treated to the bash thanks to the efforts of daughter Glenis, who flew in from New Zealand to help the couple celebrate their anniversary with friends and family.
Glenis had to let her dad into the secret at the 11th hour after discovering he was planning to take Eileen out for a meal.
The dining room was transformed into a party venue with flowers, balloons, streamers and banners decorating the room and the Ashmans were delighted to share the wonderful afternoon with family and friends.
Haydn and Eileen also celebrated the arrival of their great-grandson, who was born in New Zealand shortly before Glenis departed.
