Somerset snow alert tonight into Friday morning

Somerset snow alert for Thursday night into Friday Somerset snow alert for Thursday night into Friday

THE Met Office have issued a warning of snow for the region from this evening (February 9) into Friday morning (February 10).

Somerset has been put on a yellow alert as an area of snow is expected to push its way steadily into the South-West.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Whilst there is uncertainty regarding where the heaviest and most persistent snow will fall, accumulations of up to about 10cm are possible in the worst affected regions.

“The public should be aware that, as a result, there could be some disruption to travel.”

Motorists are being urged to drive carefully and avoid travelling in the snow unless neccesary.

Keep your eyes peeled to somersetcountygazette.co.uk for any school closures in the morning.

Its a highly probable chance that the whole of the county is going to get snowed in! I hope the highways agency is already busy gritting the roads, and can you do ours this time please?

I am really concerned for the general wellbeing and safety of all our public sector workers. In particular, the teachers and bin men.

My only advice for them is to stay at home today. It is far too dangerous for you to come into work.

I agree! In fact ANY public employees please heed this warning.
If you put your heads through the curtains and see any snow at all, even if the roads are black, get back under your duvets - it's your public duty - lol!

So where is all this snow? We made provision for it and all for nothing! You would have thought the Met Office would know if it definately going to snow before issuing an alert! Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? No wonder councils get caught out when weather like this hits, they don't have a reliable source to get the information from!
