MEMBERS of Ilminster Rotary Club were treated to a private tour of the house and studio of Charles Dennis, founder of the renowned Dennis Chinaworks.

The stylish vases, pots and other items are produced on site, and designed by Sally Duffin, who has worked with Charles for over 36 years, and whose son now works with the small team of craftsmen at Shepton Beauchamp.

The works of art are much sought after by collectors all over the world, often fetching prices of several £k at auction. Of particular interest at this visit was Charles’ own collection of fabulous priceless pieces he has acquired over many years, including a special cubist egg cup.

Charles and Sally have just finished completing a specially decorated font for the local church, made in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and work continues on a one off vase of the stained glass window at Westminster Abbey, along with a seemingly endless carpet of poppies.
