AN Ilminster resident has urged a bus company serving the town to reconsider its route, claiming she is suffering from a loss of privacy outside her home.

Jo Seely of Riec-sur-Belon Way, who runs domestic cleaning service Home Affairs, has been angered by the sight of buses using the front of her property as a staging point, waiting outside the property for a length of time.

The problem started when the route of the 30A altered earlier this year to be re-directed away from the town centre.

Having written to First Buses to stress the issue Mrs Seely is disappointed with the lack of correspondence from the firm.

Mrs Seely said: “I’m sad to say that we have heard nothing – we have sent letters to First in Taunton but we don’t get any response. It’s becoming untenable – we are in desperate need. We have been told that from July 22, First will stop using outside our house as a staging stop and just use it as a drop off.

“That’s not what we want - I’m really getting fed up with it. When the bus stops outside people are looking in – I have even had one girl waving at me!”

A spokesman for First Buses said: “We have been in touch with Mrs Seely to understand her concerns about the use of the bus stop outside her home. We are sympathetic to her concerns and we have agreed to move the timing point that we have been using to elsewhere along the route.

“This means that the issues with buses stopping for longer than necessary outside her home will be reduced from July. We have similarly advised Mrs Seely that she should contact her local council should she wish to have the bus stop itself removed, or relocated. At present we have no further plans to alter the route of Service 30.”
