UPDATE: Man killed in A358 collision at Bicknoller named (From Yeovil Express)

We witnessed this accident and wish to send our well wishes to the two young lads that were in the car behind us. Hope you are both feeling better and your injuries were not too serious. Also to the elderly gentleman that's car hit them hope you are ok as well.

By the way I have given my phone number to the police but as yet they have not contacted us for any witness statements and we are going back to kent tomorrow

Avon and Somerset Polcie have a 4-6week turnaround on crimes other than speeding. They will be in touch eventually when the wtiness have all forgotten and any cctv has been deleted.

Its called proactive policing.

That excuse could wash except in the crime I reported on the 3rd of feb that was only investigated in june and closed out due to the fact the prime suspected denied it and the cctv had been deleted.

I am told it was given to officer who failed to follow it up. After a month and contacted them and it was given to another officer. This officer did his best but was busy and struggle since the first officer failed to act on it and cctv evidence was lost. They are investigating why the first officer read and put a comment stating need more infor but he/she was responsible for contacting me to get more information.

Its clear they have people now who are totally unsuitable for police work and should be teaching assistants or something.

Thats not to detract from the minor of experienced officers they have who are doing their best but they are a minority in my experience. Their inspections say it all really and they are in general terms a failing force in HMIC eyes. They are even compared to D &C police who are miles better.

If the public were aware of the true situation regarding police numbers, and not listening to politicians (with their assigned police protection) and Chief Constables making their PR statements, such as the Asst Chief of Devon & Cornwall recently, or even watching the dearth of tv police programmes, they'd be amazed that there is still an element of law and order in this country. I have a close relative who is a supervisor in one of the home counties control rooms, and they frequently are struggling to meet commitments with the increasingly reduced manpower etc available, even more so with the olympics looming. Maybe some of the above critics would care to become special constables.

How can they justify failing a person for regulars, then telling at 21 they are not mature enough for PCSO role. They except as a special and allow them to lose that hard working officer to RAF Police.

I applied for a&s regs and was rejected for being a white male but was accepted by devon and cornwall for regs. I did a number of years service and left due to my father dieing suddenly. I prusued a new career and applied for specials in a&s initially they were positive but then lost the result of PIR and then didnt get back to me. I got the impression asoon as they found out i was ex reg from devon and cornwall they didnt want me.

You could say that but I know quite a few regs and past and present specials for that force that all have bad things to say about their recruitment.

I agree with julesoutthere a man died and two young men were seriously hurt-your comments are out of place.

Well said, that is just what I was thinking, it is about a person being killed and 2 lads injured, 1 with a broken back, we should be wishing them well, not bickering about the police. I have been to a fatal R.T.A and the police did a good job. Please remember people the police did not cause tha accident.
