Over Stratton books coin in the cash for charity
8:00am Friday 3rd August 2012 in News
THE licensees at the Royal Oak pub in Over Stratton, Jill and Chris Leaver, had the idea back in 2006 of setting up a charity bookcase.
To date the bookcase has raised more than £5,000 for charity.
Starting out with one bookcase and several boxes of books kindly donated by Ilminster Lions, two more cases have been added, plus a shelf dedicated to hardbacks.
Somerset Sight, The Labrador Rescue Trust, Ilminster Lions and the Annual Poppy Appeal have benefited from the generosity of the Royal Oak’s customers and readers.
