THOUSANDS of music fans, families, and campers will begin to flood the site of this year’s Glastonbury Festival tomorrow (June 26).

Around 177,500 people attend the ‘greatest show on earth’, located in Pilton, each year - with 40,000 vehicles and around 21,000 arriving by coach or train.

The influx of traffic and people has seen Somerset County Council vow to minimise the impact on the A39, A371 and A361 to the site this week.

Meanwhile, tributes will be paid at the festival on Saturday to well-known Sedgemoor man, Crispin Aubrey, who led a 25-year campaign against the development of the ‘Hinkley C’ new nuclear reactor – around 30 miles from the festival site.

Crispin, from Nether Stowey, was press officer for Glastonbury Festival since the 1980s, but died suddenly last autumn.

His wife, Sue Aubrey, said: “This being the first festival without Crispin, there are a number of celebrations of his life planned for the festival - including a tribute by Billy Bragg on the Pyramid and ‘Stop Hinkley’ stall being run in his memory in Green Futures.”

A drinks reception will be held on June 29 between 2.15pm and 2.45pm in the West Holts Backstage Bar.
