ONE in three people in the South-West confess to sneaking alcohol into bars as drink prices go up.
We’re apparently becoming savvy and looking to cheaper brands of alcohol, nights in at home and even giving up alcohol altogether to avoid paying the higher costs.
A study by TopCashback.co.uk reveals that around a third of us in the region admit taking our own booze into a bar to save money on a night out and more than half of use have bought a cheaper brand of booze than our preferred choice to cut costs.
More than two-thirds of us the South-West are even considering altering our lifestyle, saying we would give up alcohol in a bid to reduce our spending.
It’s the 21 to 30-year-olds who are the most likely to cut back on drinking to save money.
Other key findings reveal that.
*More than three-quarters of South-West residents say they would not feel unsociable if they weren’t drinking among friends who were.
*Those in Somerset spend the least on alcohol per month - those in Gloucestershire spend the most.
