NEWLY commissioned victim services were the focus of Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens’ annual meeting, last Thursday (June 25).

Over 30 people attended the meeting to hear about the challenges and achievements over the past year before putting their questions to Ms Mountstevens.

Presentations were also given and guests were presented with commissioner’s annual report at the meeting at the Somerset County Cricket Ground.

Ms Mountstevens said: “I am publishing my annual report which outlines what we’ve achieved, how we are performing and the opportunities and challenges that await us in the coming months and years.

“It has been a remarkable year for policing and community safety in Avon and Somerset as we have worked to overcome a wide range of challenges – some anticipated and some unexpected.

“Amidst all of the year’s demand, change and uncertainty, our officers, staff and partner agencies have continued to put local people first and maintain a strong focus on the priorities that I have set out in my Police and Crime Plan.”

A presentation was given on the newly commissioned victim services and partnership working.

Following presentations attendees were then invited to put their questions to the commissioner and the panel of presentations.

Questions raised included those on road safety, police visibility, fraud and cybercrime, outsourcing and early intervention.

Notes from the annual meeting will be published on the commissioner’s website in due course.
