A FAMILY left outraged at the state of their holiday accommodation are now speaking out to warn others as a warning to others.

Daniella Necchi-Ghiri, 23, visited Pontins Brean Sands Holiday Park, in Burnham, from July 6 to 10, with husband Aiden, 26, and two-year-old son, Alfie.

They were joined by her brother Callum Logie, 18, and his girlfriend Lucy Dunsdon, 16.

“When we arrived there were fag buts under the bed and cobwebs all over the place,” said Daniella, from Oxfordshire.

“We complained and were told it would be looked into but the following day we still hadn’t heard anything.

“When I came to cook the hob was covered in rust and set the smoke alarms off, which didn’t stop for ages and there was no answer when we phoned reception. The chalet had no fire extinguisher or fire blanket either.”

Daniella requested that the accommodation be cleaned again and someone was sent to mop the floor.

“The skylight was full of dead bugs and when we returned on the final evening from a day out, there were red ants and flying ants crawling up the fridge,” she added.

“There was a plank of wood between the cooker and the fridge and when we moved it we discovered a huge ants nest. We phoned reception and Security came and sprayed the nest.

"They told us to take photos and that we needed to get out of the chalet.”

When the family checked out, the manager told Daniella they would look into the issues claimed she was told by the manager that they would look into the issues. Days later, she had heard nothing and when it was chased up, She was offered 25 per cent off of her next holiday.

“I didn’t want to go back there, I wanted a refund,” she said.

“I then received an email saying that there would be no future correspondence between Pontins and myself.

“I am outraged that my family summer holiday was ruined – I wouldn’t even call it a holiday. I don’t think it’s right and I want people to know.”

Pontins state on their website that Brean sands Holidays Park is the perfect base to “to create magical family memories.”

On September 18, Daniella was sent an e-mail by Pontins Brean Sands general manager, Mick Forster, apologising and offering her 50 per cent off a future short break. She declined and is pursuing a full refund.

Pontins replied, saying there would be no more correspondence.

A spokesperson for Pontins said: “We are aware of a complaint from Mrs Daniella Necchi-Ghiri regarding her holiday with us.

“As soon as a guest makes us aware of a problem with their apartment, we work hard to rectify the problems as soon as we can.

“Issues with ants do happen as we are on agricultural land but as soon as we are made aware that an apartment has a problem with ants we work hard to rectify the problem.

“We have spoken with Mrs Necchi-Ghiri and she has been offered compensation."
