BEER, cider and music lovers will be heading to an annual fundraising festival July.

Revellers will be able to enjoy two entertainment filled days on Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23 at Gumbeerfest, at Stogumber Cricket Club's base.

James Weetch, one of the organisers, said: “During the festival we will have some fantastic music as well as a bar stocked with more than 40 different beers and ciders.

“On Friday night we will once again have Somerset favourites The Wurzels headlining and there will also be entertainment from dance and contemporary pop group Filta and rock and roll band Rough Justice.

“People will have a chance to meet several brewers and cider makers on Saturday and vote for their favourite tipple.

“We will also be hosting the first ever Gumbeerfest Beer Pong Championships and in addition to this, there will be a range of family-friendly activities for children and adults alike such as skittles, gladiator jousting and a bouncy castle throughout the afternoon.”

Headlining the Saturday evening entertainment is funky soul, blues and disco group Joey the Lips. Also performing will be This Fire, who will play a variety of indie and rock tracks, Palmerston and the king of rock and roll, Mark ‘Elvis’ Nixon.

Gumbeerfest, which is in its seventh year, is an annual music and beer festival.

It takes place on Friday, July 22, from 6pm until 12.30am, and Saturday, July 23, from 12pm until 1am within the grounds of Stogumber Cricket Club.

The event, primarily the major annual fundraiser for the club, also donates monies to good causes in the area.

James continued: “Tickets for the festival are now available from www.gumbeerfest.co.uk - a ticket for Friday or Saturday is £15 and a weekend pass is £20.

“People will also be able to camp at the festival and this will cost £5 per person.

"Anyone wishing to camp can purchase a wristband at the festival entrance.”
