SECRET World’s Beaks and Squeaks bank holiday open weekend has been a squeaking success.
The event, at Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill, gave visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with many different animals.
Visitors got the chance to observe the animals at the centre, as well as take part in hands on activities such as creating their own bird feeders, and learn more about the rescue centre and the work they do in helping animals.
Nicola Round, from the centre, said: “The weekend has gone very well, and the weather has been great for us so everyone has been enjoying themselves.
“Children have had the chance to meet hedgehogs up close and help build log piles, it’s great for them to see the animals and find out what we do.
Visitors had the unique opportunity to see baby birds, such as magpies, thrush and blue tits, up close.
Ms Round added: “The highlight has probably been the harvest mice, Britain’s smallest rodent.
“The children have helped to create a harvest mouse habitat, and they have had great fun doing that and getting up close to the mice.”
This was the second of three open weekends that will be held by the rescue centre over the year, with next event, ‘The Secret World of Hedgehogs’ taking place in October.
