A 31-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in his thirties in Taunton yesterday.

Police were called to a property in Bircham Road shortly after 1pm yesterday, (Saturday, November 19).

A man in his thirties was found inside the property with serious injuries and despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police said a 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested yesterday but has been released without charge.

Senior Investigating Officer Andy Mott said: “We're carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death and a Home Office pathologist is due to carry out a post-mortem examination to determine how he died.

“Although we're still at an early stage, we can confirm the victim and the arrested woman were known to each other.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that there’s no wider risk to the public as a result of this tragic incident.

“If you have any information which could help us, or saw or heard anything suspicious in Bircham Road around lunchtime yesterday, please call us. Every piece of information is important.”

The scientific investigations team were carrying out work in the property on Sunday.

We spoke to neighbour Jagoda Slominska, who lives across the street from the crime scene.

"Around 2pm, two police cars and an ambulance arrived and from then on emergency services were coming and going all day," she said.

"It is quite scary, this is normally a very quiet area, we are right next to a school. I am shocked."
