PARTS of Somerset are flooded after another night of heavy rainfall.

The Environment Agency said that more than 50mm of rain fell in some catchments over thr weekend. 

In the last 12 hours another 40mm has fallen over the Tone catchment.

Heavy rain is forecast until tomorrow morning, which may result in the spillways running. 

Pumps are operating at all of the pumping stations when enough water is available to pump.

One of the four pumps at Northmoor was damaged yesterday because of a power failure and is being repaired.

The remaining three pumps are more than capable to cope with the current situation.

The Monksleaze Clyce was opened yesterday to allow water to flow through the River Sowy.

This kept the Rivers Parrett and Tone at a level to allow pumping in both Currymoor and Northmoor.

Some schools across Somerset have also closed due to the floods.

Dulverton All Saints CofE VC Infants School, Little Elms Nursery and Dulverton Junior School will be closed this afternoon.

Hambridge Primary School and Stawley Primary School also closed because of flooding earlier this afternoon.

Chard & Ilminster News:

This is due to deteriorating weather conditions in the Dulverton area where surrounding roads have become flooded.

The school hopes to re-open tomorrow.

North Newton Community Primary is closed, as there is no access to WCs due to flooding. 

There's also no heating and no electrics as water is affecting some lights.

Thurlbear School near Taunton has told parents that due to flooding on roads and driving conditions, parents can pick their children up early however the school will be open.

Neroche Primary School near Ilminster is also allowing parents to pick up  children from as early from 1pm as two out of three roads into the village are flooded.

Early pick up is for safety reasons to ensure safe daylight travel.

There's a lot of surface water on the A358 in both directions between Taunton and Southfields Roundabout in Donyatt.

Drivers are being asked to approach with care.

Emergency services are currently on the scene on A39 between Dunster and Minehead due to flooding.

The A39 at Kilve has been closed by police due to flooding and Nynehead Road is closed between the Nynehead Road Hollow junction and Taunton Road junction.

Comeytrowe Road in Taunton ia blocked in both directions between the Dipford Road junction and the Queensway junction, because of flooding.

There's also reports of flooding on the A378 between Curry Rivel and Langport.

There's also surface water on the A372 Beer Road in Aller, Somerset Levels near the Church Path junction. 

The A38 near Silver Street in  Bradford-on-Tone near Willowbrook Nursery and Garden Centre, is just passable because of surface water.

There's also bad flooding in Preston Bowyer and the entrance to Kingsmead School this morning.

Nether Stowey to Taunton via Hawkridge Reservoir is now impassable at Lower Aisholt.

The A356 between Misterton and Lecher Lane in South Perrott is blocked because of flooding. 

The A358 Furnham Road in Chard at Long Load is said to be flooded and Travel Somerset is asking drivers to take care.

There's also reports of flooding at Hornsbury Mill by Chard.

Exmoor National Park has also reported that part of Tarr Steps clapper bridge has been damaged in the storm.

The bridge is currently closed and will need to be repaired. 

The trains are finally running again between Bristol and Taunton following earlier disruption.

Flooding between the two stations caused services to be delayed and cancelled for a number of hours.

There were several delays at Bristol Temple Meads at the station itself. 

Disuption is expected to continue until 5pm.

Cannington Golf Club is closed because of flooding and Bridgwater College has also closed the astroturf because of the rain.

Elsewhere in Somerset, the Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the River Barle from Simonsbath to Brushford including Withypool.

There's also a flood alert for streams in the West Somerset area.

Heavy rain is expected to continue today with heavy, thundery showers predicted for the south this afternoon.

The winds will be strong too, with gales likely over coasts and hills in the west.

The showers will continue tonight with some further heavy outbreaks.

They will become more isolated towards dawn but the winds will stay strong around the coast. 

Meanwhile, Taunton's game versus Wimborne at the Viridor Stadium looks under threat, if this picture is anything to go by
