THE death of a man at Burnham and Highbridge Train Station is being classed as unexplained.

The man, who was in his 30s, fell from a bridge at the station at approximately 11.45am on Sunday, April 2.

Although a formal identification has not yet taken place, the man's family have been informed of his death and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place this week. 

The British Transport Police is investigating and detectives are now appealing for witnesses. 

Investigating officer, detective inspector Jacqueline Thomas, said: “We are continuing to keep an open mind regarding the circumstances which led to this man falling from this bridge.

"We believe a number of people may have been at the station, or in the area, prior to this incident and I would urge them to get in touch.

“This is a very upsetting incident for this man’s family who are being supported by specialist officers from British Transport Police. Our thoughts are with them at what must be a very difficult time.
