DO you know someone who deserves a Somerset Sports Award?

The time has come to nominate a coach, volunteer, club or school staff member who has made a real difference to sport in Somerset.

The event, run by the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership, encourages anyone to nominate to ensure that they recognise those in the county who make sport happen.

The categories are: l Young sports person, aimed at the county’s highest achievers.

Children’s coach, for people who coach youngsters under 16, participation coach, for those who get more people involved in sport, and performance coach, for those who have shown dedication to supporting high-quality coaching and nurturing talent.

Other categories include young volunteer of the year, club volunteer of the year, club of the year, the Get Somerset Active award, the contribution to school sport, and the outstanding achievement in disability sport award.

To qualify, nominees must live, volunteer, coach or deliver sport in Somerset.

The top three people shortlisted in each category will be invited to a prestigious awards evening on June 6 – last year’s event was held at Somerset County Cricket Club.
