SOUTH Somerset District Council has launched its own Facebook page to keep more residents up to date with the latest news via social networking.
The page was launched at the end of July and has already gone on to have over 300 ‘Likes’.
Liking a page on Facebook effectively means you sign up to receive posts in your own news feed from the page owner.
The newly-created page is intended to keep residents up to date with the latest news, events and job opportunities from South Somerset District Council as well as providing useful information about council services.
Cllr Ric Pallister, Leader of South Somerset District Council said: “Our communications team have recognised we are missing a trick and can reach many more residents if we have a corporate Facebook page, so the page was created with communicating, informing and reaching more residents very much in mind. It joins our corporate Twitter account which has been running successfully for many years as a method to communicate with residents, for free.”
You can view the page by visiting facebook.com/South SomersetDistrictCouncil.
Their Twitter account is @southsomersetdc
