Residents across Chard and Ilminster are waking up to a new MP.
Conservative Marcus Fysh has taken the Yeovil constituency seat from Liberal Democrat Marcus Fysh with 24,178 votes, ousting incumbant Liberal Democrat Schools Minister David Laws, who secured 18,865.
UKIP's Simon Smedley came third on 7,646 ahead of Labour's Sheena King on 4,053 and Emily McIvor for the Green Party on 2,191.
In 2010 David Laws secured the seat with 31,843 votes, but has lost was deemed a 'safe' seat on a disasterous night for the Liberal Democrats.
The result gives Marcus Fysh a majority of around 5,000 votes, resulting in a 16% swing from Lib Dem to Conservative.
