RESIDENTS from south Somerset are being urged to pick up their brushes and dust off their litter pickers for a nation-wide event.
This year, to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, community groups around the country will take to the streets to rid them of litter in an event called "Clean for the Queen” on March 4 until March 6.
South Somerset District Council is encouraging volunteers to contact their local town or parish council to see how they can take part.
Or if you would like to organise your own event, register online at www.cleanforthequeen.co.uk and contact Kevin Andrews from the district council via email at kevin.andrews@southsomerset.gov.uk or by phone on 01935 462871 to arrange any equipment that you would like to borrow.
