THE Rotary Club of Chard has been pleased to entertain five Malaysian Rotarians from the Rotary District 3310 as part of an exchange programme with our District 1200.
They were delighted to welcome Choo Chor Tek, the leader of the party who was hosted by club president RTN Robin Williams and his wife Christine, Chiang Wei Chia and his wife Flora who stayed with RTN John Sully and his wife Sheila, and Capt Ong Kean Soon and his wife Kumutham who were hosted by RTN Stanley Hopkins and his wife Sylvia.
The party were at Perry’s Cider at Dowlish Wake and after a light lunch went to the Chard Guildhall for a formal welcome by the mayor, Cllr David Bulmer, and the town crier with the mace bearer.
On Wednesday, the party were taken on a trip on the West Somerset Railway which was much enjoyed although the heavy rain obscured the view of the Quantock Hills being appreciated.
On Thursday they went to the Wetlands Centre at North Curry, followed by had lunch at the Langport Arms and visited Muchelney Abbey.
