CHILDREN in Ilminster were fascinated by recent visitors who came with religious answers.

Key Stage 2 children at Greenfylde First School enjoyed a visit from Balbir Kaur and Gurdial Singh from the Gurdwara in Bristol last week.

In Religious Education, the children have been finding out about the life and teaching of Guru Nanak and were able to ask Mrs Kaur and Mr Singh about their lives as Sikhs in Britain.

Claire Oaten, the head teacher at Greenfylde Church of England First School, said: “As a school we believe it is important that our young people understand the rich diversity of culture and faith that exists across Britain and in the wider world and having visitors who they can ask questions to and hear first-hand about their faith, proved to be a very valuable experience.”

Year Three pupils at Greenfylde were also treated to a visit from engineer professor Jon Holt, who spoke about the different types of engineering settings.
