DINOSAURS, Disney stars and superheroes were among the colourful characters which appeared at schools across South Somerset for World Book Day.
Children braved the early signs of Storm Emma on Friday (March 2) and made it to school in fancy dress, raising money for charity in the process.
Neroche’s Student Teacher Elle Peat will be taking a number of School in a Bags the pupils have raised money for directly to Mama Orphans Children’s Charity in Kenya in the summer.
She said: “It has been so wonderful to celebrate World Book Day and at the same time fundraise to provide school essentials for the children I will be working with in Kenya.
"Thank you so much School in a Bag and the families of Neroche School for making all this possible.”
Penny Kilbride, from Honeycomb Nursery, in Chard, said: “Well done to the children who were able to brave the elements and come to Honeycomb to help us celebrate the world of books.
"We had Marshall from Paw Patrol, Bunny, Ladybird, the Goat, Mr T Rex and Minnie Mouse. There was lots of story-telling and role play – much fun was had by all.”
