LESS than 100 people across Somerset County Council have been affected by Swine Flu.

The council say they are dealing well with the pandemic and say services have not been affected.

A spokesman said: “There are less than 100 people across the whole of the organisation that we know are affected. “This isn't presenting any problems.

“We monitor employees who report sick with flu-like symptoms. “We are continuing to prepare how we would maintain our essential services if more staff were to report sick.”

Somerset County Council is working with public health doctors, the Health Protection Agency and NHS South West to ensure swine flu is handled effectively and potential disruption to public services kept to a minimum.

The council say they have had plans in place for pandemic influenza since 2007.
