AN application to build 114 homes near a school in Crewkerne has been put back pending further observations.

South Somerset District Council's Area West Committee was due to discuss plans submitted by Persimmon Homes South West for land at Cathole Bridge Road, near Maiden Beech Middle School, at a meeting in Merriott on Wednesday.

But developers chose to defer the decision, stating that the application was still under negation with the Environment Agency regarding the Flood Risk Assessment.

A mix of two-bedroom three storey apartments, two-bedroom coach houses and two, three and four bedroom houses were featured in the proposal.

Plans also included 40 units of affordable housing, at the request of the Housing Department.

Case planning officers had recommended the application for approval subject to the Environment Agency's consent.
