FIVE people were rescued from a house fire in Martock earlier today.

Firefighters helped two adults and three children escape the blaze at High Orchard, Bower Hinton shortly before 5pm.

All five were accounted for and they suffered no injuries, the Fire Service has confirmed.

Fire crews tackled the flames using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.

The blaze was brought under control by about 8pm and crews left the scene shortly after.

A spokesman said much of the house was damaged by fire and smoke and added the blaze was believed to have started accidently, although an investigation has been launched.
