Charity ball planned for Valentine's
6:00am Monday 21st January 2013 in Yeovil
ORGANISERS of a Valentine charity dinner dance are hoping companies in South Somerset will show plenty of heart and support them by donating prizes.
Claire Baker, a paramedic with the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, and Aimee Storey, who works at Ilminster Ambulance Station, are organising the Hearts and Heroes event on Saturday, February 9, at Taunton School.
The proceeds will be split between the air ambulance and the Mark Burgan Memorial Fund, a military-based group which supports the Royal British Legion, the Irish Guards Appeal, INVICTA and SANDS.
Tickets at £38 are available from Aimee on 07966-586306 or Claire on 07790-904503.
People will receive a glass of Valentine’s Fizz on arrival and enjoy a three-course meal, as well as entertainment with Soul Solution.
Claire said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us so far – local businesses Cottage Flowers and Simply Hair & Beauty have bought tables of tickets.
“We’re hoping to boost the funds raised by holding an auction of donations and a raffle.
“So far, among other things we have pampering vouchers from a beauty company and items signed by a well-known fashion designer, but we’re on the lookout for other generous businesses to make donations we can auction off. We want to raise as much money as possible for these worthy causes.”
Aimee said: “It should be a great night, so please support us if you can.”
