A DRIVER has died after an incident on the A303 earlier this week.

Police say a car towing a caravan on the eastbound carriageway at about 12.15pm on Tuesday (May 27) left the road and went into a roadside ditch about half a mile before Podimore roundabout.

The driver was treated at the scene and then taken to Yeovil District Hospital but died shortly afterwards.

The road was closed for a detailed examination of the scene by collision investigators. It was re-opened shortly before 4pm.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A303 at the time of the incident who may be able to assist with our enquiries.
