POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted while having a picnic in Yeovil.

The assault took place at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 28, in the park in Sidney Gardens. The victim, a man in his 30s, was sat having a picnic with his fiancée when he was punched in the face several times in an unprovoked assault. The offender then walked off with two other men.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged 23-25-years-old, 5'11" tall with a slim build and short, light-brown hair. He was wearing a sky blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

An investigation is underway and police would like to speak to anyone with information about the assault.
