GARY Johnson has warned Yeovil Town fans not to expect a marquee signing this January.

The Glovers' boss is working hard to bolster his squad in a bid to boost Town's survival bid, but has told fans not to set their expectations too high.

Speaking after his side's 2-1 home defeat to Burnley on Saturday (January 11), Johnson said: "They’re always busy weeks but if people are expecting Yeovil to suddenly sign a big name player then that’s not going to happen.

"Don’t get get all our customers up too high in their expectation because when we sign Joe Bloggs they go ‘argh, Joe Bloggs, who’s he?’ when they expect Wayne Rooney.

"There are 23 other teams in the Championship and we’re all fighting for good players and if there’s a good player out there and he has the choice of six teams or Yeovil or Burnley, there’s every chance he’s going to choose one of the others.

"We’re going to keep going and try to find these little gems if we can and keep competing."

Johnson also rubbished reports in Scotland suggesting the Glovers will make a move for Livingston hot shot Marc McNulty, who has also been targeted by Rangers.

So far, Johnson has brought in defender Matteo Lanzoni on a permanent deal, with Shane Duffy, John Lundstram and Joe Ralls agreeing extended loans.

Up front is one area where Johnson is looking to strengthen, having lost Ishmael Miller (loan expired) and Paddy Madden, who moved to Scunthorpe this week.
