A NEWLY-FORMED netball team in Yeovil had a winning start to competitive action at a recent tournament.
The Building Craftsmen Yeovil Netball Team, which plays in the summer league, was set up by player Tracey Hellyar.
She said: “We are a group of ladies aged between 20 something to 40 something and we met a local sports incentive held at Westfield school called Back to Netball.
“After playing in the summer league for another team for the past two years I decided to set up my own team.
“After a huge sponsorship hunt Building Craftsmen Yeovil, a local building firm agreed to sponsor us and their kind donation has paid for an amazing kit, balls and equipment so we are set up for years to come.
“I think it is amazing that firstly something like Back to Netball is running to allow people like us to meet, get fit and it has also created a group friendship for all of us.
“Secondly, even in the depths of recession, a local firm has given us a very kind donation to enable us to progress our new passion for netball and play as a team during the summer league due to start in April.
“A few weeks ago we entered a local tournament, the first time we had played as a team and we won. We are all very proud of our team and are looking forward to summer league.”
