SOMERSET County Cricket Club officially drew their final friendly match against Uni of Exeter earlier this week ahead of the 2024 County Championship season.

Somerset scored 273/6 dec and 242/7 dec to University of Exeter's 194 and 127/4 (33) before rain brought the match to a close on Day Three.

The toss was uncontested, and Somerset opted to bat first under grey skies in Taunton.

Sean Dickson was amongst the runs on the opening day of the match as the 32-year-old looked in good touch as he top scored for the hosts, who declared at tea after reaching 273 for six.

In Uni of Exeter's first innings, Ned Leonard took 3/38 while Kasey Aldridge and Craig Overton both took two wickets before the visitors were bowled out for 194.

Tom Lammonby then continued his good pre-season in Somerset's second innings after making 4o in the first innings, he hit 94 in the second and demonstrated his full array of shots throughout.

The hosts declared at 242/7 on the final day and before rain called the match off, skipper Lewis Gregory, Shoaib Bashir, Leonard and Aldridge all took a wicket.
