WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Winsham Ladies 4, Charlton 2 (From Yeovil Express)

WINSHAM moved into the next round of the Somerset County Women’s League Knockout Cup after defeating Division Two side Charlton.

Winsham welcomed back their Captain Emma Spurdle and she was on top form, supported by Belinda Bishop, Jodie Molloy and Ruth Gibson in defence.

Winsham took the lead with Sammy Hockey running on to a through ball before providing a great finish.

The next goal came from a great team move, finished well by Katie Martin.

In the second half Winsham conceded an early goal but soon restored their lead when a Hockey cross was forced into the net by Vicky Taylor.

The away side pulled another goal back but some superb running and a great goal from Molloy saw the Reds cement their lead.

Girl of the game was awarded to Sammy Hockey for her oustanding performance.
