IVEL Barbarians club chairman Harold Williams has questioned the players commitment after they failed to have enough players for a second XV fixture at the weekend.
They only arrived with ten players for their Somerset Two South league match at Chard on Saturday.
Fortunately, the host side leant them two further players – but they Ivel fell to a heavy 84pts-7 defeat.
The lack of players meant that chairman Mr Williams turned out for the side along with the club president Colin Hendrie.
And Mr Williams stormed: “The lack of commitment from the players who didn’t bother to answer their team’s call is disappointing to say the least.
“The players that did turn up put in a fantastic performance. What we shouldn’t have needed was for me, and two other players - all of us over 50 years of age - along with the club president to be called upon. This is not the way to run a team.
“Our thanks to Chard for loaning us the two players, to at least ensure we had a match.”
