YEOVIL Town manager Gary Johnson has admitted he has been watching the progress of new midfielder Lawson D'Ath for a number of years.

The 19-year-old signed on loan for the Glovers yesterday from Championship outfit Reading.

And Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said: "I've been watching him since he was about 15 or 16 at Reading.

"Wherever I was, I knew he was going to be good enough, but it was when Reading and myself felt that he was going to be ready.

"Then you hope that you're in first before somebody else notices. But he's a very very good footballer."

Johnson added: "Reading have got high hopes for him and he's ready for League football, and I'm pleased to say that he is starting his league football off with us."

D'Ath is expected to go straight into Yeovil's squad for tomorrow's important npower League One clash with Scunthorpe United at Huish Park.
