ROAD RUNNING: Easter Bunny 10k results at Yeovilton


YEOVIL Town Road Running Club’s annual Easter Bunny 10k race at Yeovilton on Monday was another huge success.

A total of 334 athletes completed the course with Frank Tickner, of Wells City Harriers, winning in a time of 30 minutes and 30 seconds.

He beat runner-up Richard Gardiner, of Cardiff AC, by just 11 seconds.

Gardiner brought home a trio of Cardiff club runners with Michael Johnson third and Peter Grist fourth.

Edward Knudsen, of Langport Runners, was eighth in a time of 33 minutes and 29 seconds.

Tim Hawkins made it into the Top Ten and was the first member of the Yeovil Town RRC to finish the course in 33 minutes and 36 seconds.

Paul Levick was not far behind in 17the spot and a time of 35 minutes and 43 seconds, while Neil Monish was 37th in 37 minutes and 54 seconds.

Monish finished just behind Sarah Urwin-Mann, of Team Bath, who was the first lady home in 33rd in a time of 37 minutes and 38 seconds — just under a minute ahead of second lady Jenny Moore, of Wells City Harriers.

Matthew Hill, of Langport Runners, came home in 43rd spot, while he was closely followed by third-placed lady finisher Michelle Maxwell, of Royston Runners.

Rob Ellis, of Langport Runners, was 62nd in a time of 39 minutes and 47 seconds, while Jon Rowe, of Yeovil Town RRC, just scraped in under the 40-minute barrier.

They were quickly followed by Neil Plumridge, of Chard Road Runners, and Yeovil club duo Rod Appleby and Andy Margrett.

Jon Grover, of Yeovil Town RRC, came 76th in dead on 41 minutes, while David Carnell, of Crewkerne Running Club, and Stuart Cairns, of Langport Runners, were just behind.

Yeovil’s Steve House maintained his steady running by finishing 86th ahead of Langport Runners team-mates Tony Forster and Jim Hill.

Other local club runners to complete the course in under 50 minutes were as follows: Chris Wadey, Chard Road Runners; Paul Williams, Chard Road Runners; Dave Boyer, Yeovil Town RRC; Malcolm Maxted, Yeovil Town RRC; Rachel Hayton, Crewkerne Running Club; Sue Everett, Yeovil Town RRC; Jo Whaites, Yeovil Town RRC; David Woan, Yeovil Town RRC; and Nigel Moysey, Yeovil Town RRC.

With Tickner winning the Easter Bunny 10k race for Wells City Harriers, Luke Prior made it a “double” for the Wells club by winning the fun run.

He completed the course in just five minutes and 38 seconds — 18 seconds ahead of second-placed Megan Edwards, of Dorchester AC, who took the first female prize.

Yeovil Olympiads Athletics Club duo Jonathan Greenwood and Annabel Arnold came fifth and sixth respectively.
