The Golden State Warriors moved another step closer to defending their NBA title after beating the San Antonio Spurs in five matches to reach the Western Conference semi-finals.

The Warriors claimed a 99-91 victory over the Spurs at Oracle Arena on Tuesday to complete a 4-1 series success.

Kevin Durant scored 25 points, Klay Thompson added 24 while Draymond Green registered 17 points and 19 rebounds for Golden State, who will face the New Orleans Pelicans next.

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a 4-1 series win over the Miami Heat courtesy of a 104-91 triumph in their Eastern Conference play-off.

JJ Redick and Joel Embiid led the way, scoring 27 and 19 points respectively, to ensure the Sixers reached the second round for the first time since 2012.

They will face the winners of the series involving the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics in the next round.

The Celtics took a 3-2 lead ahead of game six on Thursday with a 92-87 victory.

Al Horford racked up 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals in an impressive display for the Celtics, who had Marcus Smart returning from a thumb injury.
