SOMERSET supporters are invited to attend a special event next Friday, October 3 to welcome home the Pedal for the Pavilion riders.
At 4.30pm that day a barbecue will be held at The County Ground to welcome back Marcus Trescothick and the team who have taken part in the cycling event that is raising money for the Somerset Pavilion Appeal.
Pedal for the Pavilion begins in St Austell on Monday and over the course of five days the riders will travel up to Bath via Plymouth, Exeter and Yeovil before finishing in Taunton.
All supporters are invited to go along and show their appreciation for the riders who will have completed the gruelling 300-mile trek around the South-West. Entry to the barbecue along with food is free, and it is being held in association with event sponsor Westaway’s Sausages of Newton Abbot.
The Somerset Pavilion Appeal was launched with one vital aim: to raise funds for a stunning new development which will take Somerset County Cricket Club to the next level both on and off the field.
The new facility will comprise high-quality covered seating behind the bowler’s arm, alongside a large bar and entertainment area, high-quality corporate/media facilities and a magnificent roof top viewing area.
Work on the Somerset Pavilion will commence next week and once completed the new building will bring the ground to the standard required to host international cricket.
