SOMERSET and England bowling legend Andy Caddick and Matt Maynard, the Somerset Director of Cricket, will be in the England Masters XI to face King’s College in Taunton on Friday, July 2.

Maynard and Caddick are well known to each other having been on opposing teams for Glamorgan and Somerset on many occasions and toured with England to the West Indies over the winter of 1993-94.

Maynard said: “PCA Master’s games are always great events not only for the old boys to get back together and share a few stories from yesteryear, but the games are arranged to help communities, in this case King’s College, to generate interest and raise funds on the day as well.

“The work that the PCA do with the Masters is terrific and I just love playing in them.”

Caddick said: “I love playing for the PCA Masters and the best thing about them is getting back together with the boys because they are a great bunch to be with.

“Its also good to be able be part of the PCA Masters who bring these players to help promote the game of cricket by playing at clubs and schools who want us to turn up and help promote the game of cricket.”

“King’s College is a wonderful venue and on my doorstep so I won’t have to travel very far for the game.

“It will be great to catch up with Dennis Breakwell, who has just retired, but over the years has been involved with putting on so many cricketing events there.”

Caddick added: “King’s College have produced a long list of players who have gone on to play first class cricket and long may it continue.”

Admission to the ground costs £10 per adult and £3 per junior (Under-18) and can be obtained from Somerset County Sports at the County Ground in Taunton, and also from the King’s College reception.

Ahead of the game, which starts at 4.30pm, a marquee lunch is being hosted for 300 guests with tickets costing £75 per head.
