ENGLAND versus Sri Lanka is one of seven matches that will take place in Taunton as part of this summer's Women's World Cup, the ICC have today confirmed.

The host nation will be playing at the County Ground on July 2 in a match which could feature Western Storm players Anya Shrubsole and Jodie Dibble.

The first match to take place in Taunton pits the holders Australia up against the West Indies on June 26, with the current champions return to the Westcountry for the match against South Africa on July 15.

The full fixture list is as follows:

Monday June 26 - Australia v West Indies

Thursday June 29 - West Indies v India

Sunday July 2 - England v Sri Lanka

Thursday July 6 - New Zealand v West Indies

Saturday July 8 - New Zealand v Pakistan

Wednesday July 12 - Sri Lanka v South Africa

Saturday July 15 - South Africa v Australia

ICC Chairman Dave Richardson said: "I can’t think of a better moment than International Women’s Day to unveil the schedule of one of the leading global events in women’s sport.

“We are anticipating an exciting tournament and I know the players are looking forward to competing here in front of unprecedented levels of support."

Somerset CCC CEO Guy Lavender added: “To be playing a major part in what promises to be a superb tournament is a real honour not just for Somerset County Cricket Club but for the county as a whole. 

"We have long been associated with Women’s cricket and we are delighted that the County Ground will once again be playing host to the biggest and best names in the game.”

As part of the build-up to the competition, a countdown clock is to be unveiled at Market House in Taunton later today (Wednesday) at 10.30am.

England duo Fran Wilson and Beth Langston will both be in attendance, along with the Mayor of Taunton and Guy Lavender.

Wilson and Langston will then be running a coaching session for youngsters at the indoor Centre of Excellence at the County Ground.
