IT really has been a great start to the season for us. Obviously, I missed out on the Worcestershire match but I was really pleased to be included against Yorkshire, and what a game that was.

There were a number of stand-out performances and Matt Renshaw’s century in the first innings was unbelievable. To get to 50 just from boundaries was pretty special but to get off the mark with a six, go to 50 with a six and get to 100 with a six is something you don’t see very often.

The fast bowlers were outstanding too and it was great to see Tom Abell in the runs (and also in the wickets).

The atmosphere in the dressing room after the Yorkshire win was brilliant and it was great to be a part of that. You never get tired of singing Blackbird with this bunch of lads.

After that win it was off to Lancashire and the lads made a great start.

To see Tres in full flight is still one of the best sights in county cricket and his hundred up there was another example of what a class act he is.

To bat on with a broken metatarsal shows what a team player he is and the fact he was prepared to bat second innings is a real measure of the man.

It was great to see George [Bartlett] make his first Somerset hundred in the game as well. He played superbly and I’m sure that century will be the first of many over the next few years.

Abes [Tom Abell] once again grabbed the headlines after making 99 and then taking four wickets and Leachy’s performance with the bat when we really needed it was first class.

Hopefully, we can keep this unbeaten run going this weekend!
