CRAIG Overton will miss two of Somerset's upcoming County Championship matches after being named in the England Lions squad to face India A and West Indies A.

Seamer Overton is part of a 13-man England squad which will take part in a Tri-Series with the teams from India and the West Indies in Derby, Leicester, Northampton and at the Kia Oval between June 22 and July 2.

Therefore he will miss Somerset's County Championship matches away to Surrey (June 20-23) and Essex (June 25-28).

Overton has a bowling average of 39.40 in the County Championship this season, and an average of 28.66 with the bat.

He had an average of 28.00 (economy of 5.96) in the Royal London One-Day Cup, and a batting average of 19.66.

This Tri-Series gives Overton an opportunity to put himself back in contention for the England Test side, having played well against Australia in the Ashes, but being overtaken by Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Sam Curran for the Test series with Pakistan this summer.

Full England Lions squad: Nick Gubbins (Middlesex), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Yorkshire), Sam Hain (Warwickshire), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Steven Mullaney (Nottinghamshire, captain), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Craig Overton (Somerset), Matthew Parkinson (Lancashire), Matthew Fisher (Yorkshire), Reece Topley (Hampshire), Tom Helm (Middlesex)
