SOMERSET wicketkeeper Tom Banton is a doubt for Wednesday evening's televised Vitality Blast clash at Hampshire after dislocating his finger in training.

The 19-year-old, who has replaced Steve Davies for the last two matches of the group stage, picked up the injury today (Tuesday) but will travel with the squad to the Ageas Bowl.

Head coach Jason Kerr told the County Gazette: "Tom has slotted in really nicely at the top of the order since we've brought him in.

"Unfortunately he is a doubt for tomorrow - I would say he is 50/50 at this stage."

Somerset have no other injury concerns to report as they go in search of their fifth consecutive Vitality Blast victory.

"Each win has been different and I'm delighted with the fact various players are stepping up at different times," Kerr said.

"We can't get too ahead of ourselves as we have four very challenging games to come."

Hampshire have not had the best campaign to date and sit seventh with just one win from nine matches.

South African paceman Dale Steyn could feature for the hosts having rejoined as their overseas player for the remainder of the season.

Steyn played in the Royal London One-Day Cup match between the two sides at the Ageas Bowl in June, finishing with 1-80 from 10 overs as Somerset chased down 356 to win by three wickets in the final over.

Somerset also won the reverse T20 fixture last Wednesday by 16 runs in Taunton and will cement their place at the top of the table if they can complete the double tomorrow night.

Sky Sports Cricket are screening the match, which begins at 6.30pm.

Kerr also cooled speculation linking Somerset with a move for Yorkshire paceman Jack Brooks, stating: "I was surprised to read those reports at the weekend.

"Recruitment is always important and we have to make sure anyone we do bring in is the right fit."

Somerset squad to face Hampshire: Tom Abell, Corey Anderson, Tom Banton, Josh Davey, Lewis Gregory (c), James Hildreth, Johann Myburgh, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Jerome Taylor, Peter Trego, Roelof van der Merwe and Max Waller.
