Yeovil Town 4, Leyton Orient 0
TWO goals from James Hayer put Yeovil's league woes behind them and fired them into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The veteran frontman scored either side of half time as the Glovers ran out comfortable winners against the League One promotion chasers at Huish Park.
Joel Grant scored a fine volley between Hayter's two strikes before an all-round good day for the Championship side was capped off by substitute Kieffer Moore.
The result means Yeovil are in the pot for the fourth round draw for the first time in nine years.
Afterwards, boss Gary Johnson heaped praise on his strikers, in particular Hayter.
He said: "He looked dangerous and sharp.
"What we asked for at half-time was a couple of good balls into the box and it was a good ball from Liam Davis, who I thought played very well today, and a good finish from Joel Grant and then Kevin Dawson hit a great cross which Hayter got on the end of.
"I did not want to take him off especially when you're on a hat-trick because you don't get too many chances over the years but I wanted to give Kieffer Moore a confidence boost, and Adam Morgan.
"Morgan nearly scored with his first touch and Kieffer did score when he was put in so there is a lot to come from them - they are only young lads so we need to bring them out of their shells quickly."
Full time and Yeovil are through to the fourth round.
GOAL! Yeovil lead 4-0 now through Moore, who finished superbly when he was put through on goal. Superb display from the Glovers who thoroughly deserve the lead.
Home fans singing: "Feed the Moore and he will score."
Stech makes his first real save of the match to deny Orient substitute Shaquile Coulthirst, saving well with his feet.
No hat-trick for Hayter as he is replaced by Kieffer Moore.
Grant misses a chance to get a brace of his own. A superb ball from Upson put the galloping Grant through on the inside left channel but his left foot shot was blasted into the side netting.
Adam Morgan replaces Sam Foley and has a good chance blocked following neat play by Grant and Upson from a corner. 77 minutes gone here and Yeovil should have enough to see the game out.
GOAL! Hayter does get his second with a brilliant header into the far bottom corner from 12 yards.
It was superb play from Joe Edwards down the right before he passed to Kevin Dawson, who whipped in a teasing delivery for Yeovil's number nine.
Attendance today is 3,667.
Huish Park is rocking now. Substitute Ed Upson, who has just replaced Webster, is straight in the thick of things as he heads over from the edge of the box. A difficult chance on the run but Yeovil impressive today.
GOAL! Grant makes it 2-0 as he converts a left wing cross from Liam Davis.
Moments earlier, Orient's Yohann Lasimant's shot fired into the side netting but the visiting supporters thought it was in.
The second half is underway.
A win today could be the spark for a couple of wins in the league #ytfc— @danielmgillard 04 January 2014
Noticeable difference in quality of opposition compared to champ. We have ample time on the ball and the o's defence very scrappy. #ytfc— @petesp25 04 January 2014
Half time - a good half for Yeovil who lead 1-0 through James Hayter.
Almost an embarrassing moment for Orient keeper Jake Larkins as he smashes the ball against the on-rushing Sam Foley, but it bobbles wide of the goal.
Hayter misses a golden chance to get his second of the game. He pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the box before driving into the area, but he dragged his left foot shot across goal and wide.
Yeovil are playing some good stuff here.
Orient midfielder Cox is finding space well in the middle of the park, trying to switch the play. Yeovil will need to watch him.
Another good chance for Yeovil as Webster plays in Grant just inside the left hand corner of the box but an Orient defender did well to make a challenge as the Glovers man bore down on goal.
Orient struggling to deal with Yeovil's long balls into the box, that's two or three they've lost in the air inside the first 20 minutes.
GOAL! A long free kick nodded down by Shane Duffy falls to striker James Hayter who heads home from close range. 1-0.
Yeovil fans amused as Orient defender Elliot Omozusi clears the Thatchers Gold stand with a wild half volley from all of 30 yards.
Bright start from both sides. Dean Cox has a decent effort blocked for Orient before the hosts break and Joel Grant pounces on a deflected shot by Luke Ayling, but he could not control and the ball was smothered by the keeper.
The game is underway here at Huish Park, Yeovil shooting towards the visitors' terrace, which is closed today.
Only four league places separate Yeovil and today's opponents in the Football League pyramid, with Orient flying high in League One under the stewardship of former Glovers boss Russell Slade.

Speaking in his programme notes, Yeovil boss Gary Johnson, above, has reflected on a "disappointing" festive period for the Glovers.
His side were thumped 5-1 at Huddersfield last weekend and their mid-week home tie against Watford was postponed.
But Johnson said: "I am looking forward to today's game and the one thing that has gone right since the Watford game being postponed means we have had the same amount of rest as Leyton Orient have had.
"It also gave us the opportunity to get a couple of players fitter than they would have been on Wednesday."
Yeovil are without Ishmael Miller and Joe Ralls who have gone back to Nottingham Forest and Cardiff respectively after their loan deals expired, and Liam Fontaine has returned to Bristol City.
Goalkeeper Marek Stech and Byron Webster, today's captain, have recovered from injury and start.
Yeovil: Stech; Ayling, Webster, Duffy, Davis; Dawson, Edwards, Lundstram, Foley; Hayter, Grant.
