THE man who netted the goal to give Blue Square Premier League leaders Oxford United their latest victory at the weekend believes they can produce an FA Cup shock on Saturday and beat Yeovil Town.
Defender Damian Batt scored the only goal of the game to give Oxford a narrow 1-0 win over Altrincham last Saturday. That goal, plus other results in the league, saw Oxford go eight points clear at the top of the table.
And Batt believes there is enough confidence in the Oxford camp to beat Terry Skiverton's Glovers side this coming weekend.
The Oxford Mail - which is owned by the Yeovil Express' parent company Newsquest - has reported that betting firm Blue Square make United 9-4 to win in 90 minutes, with the draw the same price and Yeovil marginally odds-on.
But Batt said: “We go into every game thinking we can win.
“It’s going to be a hard test, but we’ve come on a lot this year all over the park, so it’s going to be a good game.”
What appears to give Oxford a fighting chance of causing an upset is their outstanding defensive rec-ord at the Kassam Stadium this season. They have conceded only three goals at home in ten league and cup matches.
