YEOVIL Town keeper Alex McCarthy has been called-up into the England Under-21 squad to face Portugal at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, November 14.
It means that McCarthy, who is currently on loan with the Glovers from Championship side Reading, could miss Yeovil’s important Coca-Cola League One clash with Southend United which is taking place the same day at Huish Park.
He has been named in a 22-man squad, but could be released early by manager Stuart Pearce if not needed for the game and would, therefore, all being well be available for the Glovers.
The other two keepers in the squad are Watford’s Scott Loach and Frankie Fielding, who is currently on loan with League One leaders Leeds United from Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.
