THE Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust has been awarded £10,000 from the Yarlington Housing Group Community fund to assist with their football coaching programme in the area.
The Yeovil Town Community Safety Partnership has provided funding towards training volunteers to run football groups within their local communities.
Local groups have been set up in the areas where there are problems of anti-social behaviour: Ilminster, Crewkerne, Chard, South Petherton, and three in Yeovil at Newtown, Milford, Westfield.
These have been set up as part of the social inclusion agenda not just for Yarlington Housing Group but for the Yeovil Town Community Development Trust and their partners.
The initiative will reduce anti-social behaviour levels and will give the participants a structured activity.
Yarlington Housing Group is committed to support initiatives like the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust and contribute to the well being of our neighbourhoods in which we work through the provision of community facilities and services.
Yarlington Housing Group assistant director of corporate services, Ken Comber, said: “Initiatives such as the coaching programme are a fantastic opportunity for children to get active in their neighbourhoods.
“Supporting the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust is just the start for Yarlington Housing Group.
“We are committed to improve the well being of neighbourhoods and communities within the South West.”
