GILLINGHAM striker Simeon Jackson admitted his team were “hanging on” in the end to secure their 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town last night in the Coca-Cola League One.

Jackson scored the decisive goal in the early stages of the game when he converted a penalty after strike partner Febian Brandy was fouled inside the box.

Gillingham could have added to their advantage, but failed to take their chances during the opening period which they totally dominated against the Glovers.

And Jackson, speaking to Gillingham’s official website, said: “It was good to go in one to the good and it should have been three or four but I am happy with the three points as we needed them."

Jackson added: "We started off very well, we had a couple of chances in the first 20 minutes and could have been 3-0 up really.

"After that we couldn't really get the ball down and play but as a couple of us were saying it is the first time we have played bad and won. Usually we play well and don't get anything so we will take the three points."

"If we come out and start like that in most games we will find ourselves more than one or 2-0 up. We held on in the end and we were just glad to get three points really."
