AN injury ravaged Yeovil Town Ladies Reserve team lost out 2-0 to their Plymouth Argyle counterparts in a hotly contested match at the Somerton Sports Ground last Sunday.

Due to the poor weather over the past few months, the second string are a little short of match practice at the moment, and following last weekend's defeat against Ilminster Town Ladies, this was another disappointing result for the Glovers, although the squad was down to its bare bones due to an incredible injury list at the club.

This was a good open game, which Plymouth just about edged, and they scored a goal in each half.

Yeovil competed well throughout the match, but had no reply, despite once again having a number of chances that they failed to put in the back of the net.

Being short on personnel, the Glovers started the game with no substitutes, and things went from bad to worse for them when they went down to nine players for the last fifteen minutes, after both Sarah Roxburgh and Charlie Lewis had to come off injured.

This unfortunately gave the team little chance of fighting back the two goal deficit, and in the end they did well to keep the score at 2-0.

Manager Chris White was naturally disappointed after the game, but proud of the great character his players showed.

"Credit should go to Charlotte Hannam and Kia Bowles for staying on the pitch with injuries," he said.

"Normally they would have gone off early with their injuries, but they battled on, which was superb.

"Considering these setbacks the team played really well, and I was proud of all of the girls for the effort they put in.

"In my three years with the club this is the worst injury list I can remember, and it's having a severe affect on the Reserve team."
