THE dreaded phrase "credit crunch" seems to be one of the most often-used phrases in recent months as the country suffers from a growing economic crisis.
The end of the football season has arrived, however, and for some fans that will mean a couple months free of long and expensive journeys north to attend away matches.
But it also means that the club's commercial manager Dave Linney will be chasing those Yeovil fans who kindly take part each season in the "sponsor a goal" fundraising drive.
The total raised by fans during the 2007-08 season topped £3,000.
But those fans would possibly have dearly loved to have paid a bit more - had Yeovil scored more goals.
Yeovil scored just 41 goals in 51 league and cup matches during the season. A dreadfully disappointing return and has hardly helped to give Huish Park crowds much to cheer about.
Thirty-eight goals were scored in the 46 League One matches - the Glovers' lowest total for league games since entering the Football League in the 2003-04 season.
That opening season in, what was then, League Division Three, the Glovers scored 84 league and cup goals.
That rose to an amazing 110 goals in all competitions the following season when Yeovil won the newly-named League Two championship and reached the FA Cup Fourth Round.
The first season in League One saw Yeovil notch 62 goals in all competitions.
Russell Slade arrived at Huish Park in the summer of 2006, with some supporters saying he liked to play a defensively-minded style of football, but the goals tally for the season rose to 64 which includes the five scored in that never-to-be-forgotten play-off second leg semi-final at Nottingham Forest.
But this season has been a disaster for goals for Yeovil and Slade will have to look at that situation closely during the summer break.
But safe in the knowledge that the goals Yeovil did score were enough to ensure League One survival, those fans who took part in "sponsor a goal" are probably not all that overly worried now!

VOLUNTEERS who work in the Martock Charity Shop have spent £1,000 of their funds on gifts for Yeovil District Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.
YEOVIL Town are making stringent efforts to try and stop Leeds United fans from infiltrating the home areas of the ground when the two clubs meet at Huish Park next season in the Coca-Cola League One.
FIFTEEN years ago and Yeovil Town were still breathing a huge sigh of relief at remaining in business.
