EMPLOYERS in Somerset are being invited to enter a new regional awards scheme designed to showcase the achievements of companies, partnerships and individuals who have worked with Jobcentre Plus over the past year.

Nominations are being invited from companies of all sizes across the county.

The Jobcentre Plus Awards 2010 will recognise employers who have helped change people’s lives and made a vital contribution to the local community through a successful working relationship with Jobcentre Plus. Winners will be honoured at a regional awards ceremony on July 8 in five categories:

  • Recruitment Partnership Award - for the best approach to partnership working
  • Youth Employment Award – for a clear commitment and action to help young people back into work.
  • Diversity in Action Award – for the most innovative and inclusive approach to recruit and retain a balanced workforce, reflective of the local community
  • Skills Development Award – for the best approach to developing the skills of their people to maximise their potential.
  • New Recruit of the Year Award - given to the most outstanding new recruit who has found work since being previously unemployed.

There will also be an overall Employer of the Year 2010 chosen from all the successful entries.
